Every year we like to get both of our families together and take a joint family vacation. Both of our families love to get outside and chase down our next adventure so when we were picking our next destination a place where we could do just that was ideal. We decided on Phoenix, Arizona because it has plenty of things to do outside, beautiful views, and family-friendly attractions. We’re so excited to share out experience with you all today. American Airlines was fantastic to fly with! Our flights were on time and our luggage wasn’t lost, which was a huge relief and made our travel experience less stressful.

This was the kid’s very first Uber ride! I read that you could request Ubers with car seats and booster seats., which can help make traveling easier with the little ones. There weren’t any readily available so we had @instacart deliver a booster to our resort for my son Clyde.

We stayed at the Hilton Phoenix at The Peak and it had so much to offer. There were multiple pools, a lazy river, a slide, mini golf, basketball, and pool volleyball. Our families enjoyed the amenities in the sun every day. There was also a restaurant at the resort called Hole-In-The-Wall BBQ Joint, which was open from 7 am-10 pm. They offered a wide variety of foods and had a kid’s menu as well. They had indoor and outdoor seating (both covered and uncovered). This resort truly had everything that you might need all in one place.

Our kiddos really enjoyed the mini golf course at our resort. This was a great way to keep them busy and we adults enjoyed a good game of mini-golf as well! If your family enjoys a little friendly competition, mini golf is the way to go!

Our families took advantage of the gorgeous sunny weather in Phoenix and spent many hours playing in the resort pool. It has been very cold here in Wisconsin so this was a really nice break. There were over 4 acres of the River Ranch Water Park for us to explore. We played some heated volleyball matches, had intense rounds of chicken fights, and had lots of family fun.

We visited Old Town Scottsdale on our trip as well. This is the heart of the city and includes nine walkable neighborhoods home to unique shops, restaurants, museums, and historic sites. If you look forward to the tourist attraction stops on all of your vacays you will definitely want to make a stop here. We spent the morning and early afternoon shopping and exploring all this area had to offer.

After shopping until we were about to drop, we stopped in at Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers for lunch. This place was delicious, friendly, and had really large portions! We sure appreciated it after all the walking we did that morning.

The OdySea Aquarium was amazing! This was a major highlight of our trip. We spent over 3 hours looking at all of the animals. We went on a Wednesday and it wasn’t busy at all.
We got to touch sea urchins, and see sharks, sea lions, turtles, alligators, etc. If you’re planning a trip, make sure to go to the bathroom on the main level when you get there — It has the shark aquarium right in front while you’re washing your hands. This was such a wonderful experience that our families got to share and we highly recommend it.

After visiting the aquarium, we worked up quite the appetite and ate at the Pangea Dinosaur Grill. This was conveniently located on the Arizona boardwalk right outside the aquarium. It had a great atmosphere and we enjoyed our food. The Butterfly Wonderland looked like it might be pretty cool for the kids, but we didn’t visit it.

We hiked at Papagos Park and Hole-In-The Rock Trail. There were paved pathways, as well as a series of trails at loops around the big and small buttes. These were perfect for any skill level and totally family-friendly. There were miles of trails available and breathtaking views. We highly recommend it if your family enjoys hiking. They are also located next to The Phoenix Zoo, Papago Golf Course, and Desert Botanical Garden.
We had such a wonderful time visiting Phoenix, Arizona with both of our families. We have a great time everywhere we go because we are able to spend quality time with one another, but this vacation was truly one to remember. We are so glad we were able to experience some of the amazing attractions Phoenix has to offer. If you’ve been debating where to go on your next family vacation, Phoenix, AZ should be a contender!
