Summer is coming to a close and fall is right around the corner. We can’t believe how fast this summer went… it feels like it just started. In June, we posted this summer family photo inspiration for outfits and color schemes in our Facebook page. It was our most visited blog post and the requests quickly came rolling in for fall looks. With mini sessions and family photo dates on the calendar, we figured it was a great time to share 6 family picture outfit ideas. When grabbing your gear for fall and winter keep in mind that layering is a great way to build your style. For example, throw on a vest over your dress… and tie it in with the colors of your child’s sweater or dog’s bow tie. Don’t love vests? Grab a scarf, shawl or chunky sweater. There aren’t any rules, if you feel good we say go for it. And most importantly, be comfortable. If you are comfy in the outfit you are wearing, your joy will shine through in the images. So don’t stop until you find that perfect fit.
No matter if you are all wearing the same color or throwing in a pop of color among a neutral scheme… there is no right or wrong way to dress for photos. We like to have 1-2 people wear a pattern and the others stick to solids. Don’t be afraid to mix and match patterns and colors. For example, a floral maxi dress with a gingham button down or color blocking sweater. Want to stick with a neutral color scheme and throw in accessories? Great idea! Accessories can quickly elevate a look — throw on a pendant necklace, print belt, fall hat or infinity scarf to take it to the next level. Whatever you choose, just remember that comfort is key.
We love putting these blog posts together, we hope you are able to find inspiration for your upcoming family pictures or holiday gatherings (and some cute outfits to grab). Now, smile and say cheese! 📸
